In the event of new construction, the buildings previous finances may be considered, however we will still need a few month's electric bill history in order to determine the size of the solar energy system.
What is the job of the agent?
Step 1: Find good prospective clients.
Step 2: Speak with a decision maker and get interest.
Step 3: Show them the FreeCommercialSolar website.
Step 4: Have them scan and email a copy of their last 12 months bills.
Then our developers will analyze the project and get back to them. If they qualify and the project is installed, the Agent earns commissions.
How much does the Agent earn?
In low markets where the rate is 8 to 10 cents per kwH and there are not incentives available, the agent could expect to earn approximately the amount of the bill, so if the client's bill is $10,000 per month, the agent would earn about $10,000 for the referral.
In better markets where the rates are higher, such as the areas listed above, the agent commissions could be double or triple the amount of the monthly bill. For example, in a great area such as Washington, DC., a $10,000 electric bill could pay the Agent commissions up to $30,000.
How long does it take to receive commissions?
Commercial Solar deals take time, and typically the larger the project, the longer it takes. From the time the client signs the contract, the Agent should receive 10% of their commission within a couple of weeks. Then 60% at the time the equipment is ordered and the final 30% at the time the Solar Installation is complete and connected to the utility company.
As an Agent, do I need to get a copy of the bills or all 12 months?
Yes, Agents often ask us if a synopsis of the bills will suffice. The answer is no. There are many aspects to the electric bills which the developers must see in order to see if the business qualifies. We must have a copy of the actual bills or have the log in to the client's electric bill account so we can see all of the variables and determine the project's viability.
If the agent can only obtain 1 month, we can do an initial assessment, however we will need a copy of all of the last 12 months with all pages in order to qualify the business for our program.
What is the cost to become a Solar Agent?
We do not charge a fee to become an Agent at this time and training is free. The cost is in time, education and action. We are looking for highly motivated, teachable and coachable people who want to make a better life for themselves in this exciting and lucrative industry.
